Most roofing companies in this county install whatever you ask for. That is a perfectly reasonable way to run a business and it is not this one.
Metal roofing is detailed differently from composition, and the detailing is where roofs succeed or fail. Panel layout planned so the last course lands right at the visible rake. Clips that let a panel move as it heats and cools instead of pinning it. Flashing at every chimney, sidewall, skylight and vent, made rather than sealed. Fastener and flashing materials chosen to be compatible with each other, which matters more the closer you get to the water. None of that is visible from the street the day the job finishes, and all of it decides how the roof does in year fifteen.
A crew doing composition four days a week and metal on the fifth does not build that instinct. So this business does metal, and only metal, and says so plainly rather than listing it among nine other services.
The other half of it is Bellingham. The same roof is a different problem in Columbia than it is in Blaine. North slopes under Douglas fir that never fully dry. Needle load in valleys. Salt down at Fairhaven and Edgemoor. Long low pitch runs on the mid century houses on Alabama Hill. Working one area properly means knowing what it does to a roof, and that knowledge is local, specific and not transferable from a national playbook.
